Abaixo reproduzo o conteúdo do e-mail recebido:

The Honourable Mac Harb

"Dear Friend,
The Senate Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans has recently begun a study that could result in the killing of 70,000 grey seals off Canada’s East Coast.
The Fisheries Minister is pushing federal scientists to justify the slaughter of seals through contrived studies and one-sided hearings for political reasons. He has decided to ignore factors such as the impact of uncontrolled foreign overfishing in the waters off our coast and the total lack of scientific proof that seals are affecting the cod’s recovery.
The committee is considering an irresponsible cull that could, in my view, have serious negative impact on the Atlantic ecosystem and the long term health of many species, including cod. This slaughter would also result in untold costs to taxpayers and to Canada’s international reputation.
I have called on the committee to do due diligence and gather scientific evidence from all sides of this issue, not simply the studies that fit in with the unjustifiable goal of killing 70,000 seals. I urge you to write to the committee and its members who can be contacted through the Committee website http://senate-senat.ca/pofo-e.asp.
The government needs to know how Canadians and people around the world feel about this indefensible slaughter.
Sincerely,
Hon. Senator Mac Harb"

Yet Another Slaughter?
We cannot simply accept you behaviour towards marine species
Where is your honour, decency and respect for truth?
Canada has become a shame to mankind

MENSAGEM-MODELO em inglês:

To Prime Minister Harper,
To Canada's Committee on Fisheries and Oceans
To Canada's Senators
To whoever it may concern,

We, decent citizens of the world, will never accept what happens in Newfoundland, Canada. Your country has once again this year started the shameful slaughter of baby seals, clubbed to death, with no respect at all either to their lives, nor to the international public opinion, which, for decades now, has been insistently demanding the end of this annual slaughter.

Now you are intending to kill THOUSANDS of grey seals, allegedly to stop them eating sea fish. This is simply preposterous! There is no way reasonable decent scientists will agree to this absurd idea: wouldn't it be far more reasonable, ethical and effient to simply STOP OVER-FISHING yourselves?
Will you insist in desrespecting good common-sense and the world with your genocide techniques of dealign with marine wildlife?

I am deeply opposed to Canada's annual cruel, wasteful, and unsustainable commercial slaughter of harp seal pups.

Your government is on record stating it will take 'real action' on global warming. And yet you have ignored the one tangible action your government could take to show a little good will to combat the effects of global warming and environmental conservation policies - dramatically reducing the seal hunt quota.

Apart from these serious conservation concerns shared by many Canadians, the seal hunt targets baby animals, a practice that is unacceptable to the majority of Canadians and to the majority of people around the world. In the past two years, 98% of the seals killed have been less than three months old. Severe cruelty has been witnessed and documented at the hunt during the past 30 years and incidents of cruelty are not decreasing.

This hunt only continues to exist because it is propped up by a range of government subsidies and tax-payers money. More and more countries around the world are adopting legislation to ban the import of seal products. You will now have to dump their dead bodies on China, which should be a fact for you to consider, as it means allying Canada to the worst possible country regarding both human and animal rights. SHAME on you, AGAIN.

Instead of investing in meaningful employment opportunities for Newfoundlanders, the federal government continues to fund and support a seasonal and wasteful seal hunt which draws national and international criticism to a proud region of Canada trying to build a reputation for high-tech research and first-class environmental tourism.

I urge you to act immediately to end this unnecessary cruelty to seals and to restore Canada's pride as a humane and ecologically responsible society.

And, needless to say, NOT to start another shameful slaughter, this time of grey seals.

You have the oppotunity right now to do the RIGHT THING: to pass Senator's Mac Harb's bill and immediately STOP fo good the seal salughter in Canada.

Until then I will be forced to promote a very negative campaign of your country, by advising people not to visit your country. I am pretty sure your international tourism will be (and already is) deeply affected as long as you insist to sustain the criminal "economic activity".

In my opinion, your beautiful national flag is now tainted with these creatures' blood. SHAME on you ONCE AGAIN, for desrespecting your own national symbol and people's intelligence and ethical pleads.

One cannot allow this annual crime to go unpunished, accepting in silence a decision taken by you that confronts our feelings and ethical views. We, citizens of the world, have standed this for far too much time. ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
Be prepared to accept the economic impact this boycott will have on your local tourism and economy. We now live in an a global society, and whoever speaks English can make this message and boycott request spread like fire.

Yours sincerely,
